Simone, my mother, was diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer back in October. She found an oncologist who recommended a full hysterectomy, and I traveled home to Virginia to be her caretaker during this difficult time. The surgery went well, and we were hopeful, but after the operation, the doctors told us that while most of the cancer was removed, some still remained. Simone now needs chemotherapy to continue her fight against cancer.
In December, Simone lost her job and, with it, her health insurance. This devastating news meant she could no longer afford the chemotherapy treatments she urgently needs. On top of that, she is struggling to cover her regular living expenses, like rent and utilities, while she is unable to work. Our family is doing everything we can, but we simply can’t do it alone.
Simone has always been the kind of person who gives to others and helps everyone around her. Now, she needs our help more than ever. Any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or sharing this fundraiser—would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading Simone’s story and for considering helping her during this incredibly challenging time.
