Help Simon clear sleepbus Charity ATO Debt - 35k
Donation protected
I’m in a bit of a pickle. After 10 years , 4000+ safe sleeps for people doing it tough and working my butt off the last six months ensuring all our sleepbus vehicles and services found new operators… the Tax Man is now coming after me personally for the sleepbus ATO debt. Perfect!
I have just 21 Days to pay the debt. (Paid by 28th July 2025)
How did I get in this pickle?
In 2015 I met a homeless man that changed my life.
My then 15 year old twin boys said “you should do something about that dad” and with that I quit the business and corporate world to have a crack.
I dreamt up a solution, sleepbus, a temporary overnight place for a safe nights sleep… on a converted bus. Individual sleep pods with air conditioning, memory foam mattress, toilet and clean bedding daily.
No government funding, we managed to build in-house all our vehicles and launch multiple sleepbus services around the country.
We survived through the COVID years with zero donations coming in, but after 10 years, donations became harder and harder to find and as a result, the decision was made to wind up the charity at the end of June 2025.
Because I help on as long as I could, keeping our team employed, hoping things might turnaround as they have before, this has lead to a significant tax debt for a charity with no funds.
Which brings us to now. After 10 years , 4000+ safe sleeps for people doing it tough and working my butt off the last six months ensuring all our sleepbus vehicles and services found new operators… the Tax Man is now coming after me personally for the sleepbus ATO debt. Perfect!
I need your help.
I have engaged a lawyer to help mediate this situation with the ATO, and this comes with a hefty cost, money I just don’t have. I have attached the demand letters from the ATO.
Unpaid Taxes: $70,891.17
Unpaid Super: $13,838.42
Legal Fees: $2,000 approximately
If you are in a position to help, I would be truly grateful. I’m in a pretty bad spot myself now, the irony is I’m now the one doing it tough. Hopefully there will be people out there to help me, in my time of need.
Thank you. Simon
