Help Simeon recover from being shot
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Meg and I am the lucky human that got to adopt Simeon. He was turned into rescue on March 8, 2021 with a shotgun casing in his chest, he had been reported missing two days prior but his family never showed. I was blessed to adopt him on April 30th. He became my walking and hiking Buddy and an initial X-ray on his left lung was good, so we kept going on adventures.
Well, he has panted quite a bit and this has increased over time. To be safe, he saw his vet last week and the news was not good. The shell went through his body and injured his right side, collapsing part of his right lung and damaging his diaphragm. He has a hernia and his stomach and liver are protruding into his chest. His lung tissue can’t be saved and will need to be removed. He has fluid and air in his chest cavity. His heart isn’t pumping enough blood. He needs a CT scan and major surgery with several days intensive care and follow up treatment.
He has started vomiting, hopefully this is from the pain meds we are trying, which reduces his panting quite dramatically (this indicates he is in pain). We will be stopping these, but if vomiting persists, he will need immediate surgery.
Simeon means to be heard and has that ever lived up in his life. He is well loved by many and he is a sweet caring soul that deserves to be saved.
He has an initial consultation on 10/5, his CT will be $1800-$1900 and he will need blood work prior to this. His surgery could be $3000+.
Thank you from his worried momma.
