Silas is our 5 year old shelter save. Once a bundle of energy, chaos, and fun, Silas has progressively been getting more tame and quiet. Completely unlike himself, as he is a MAJORLY food motivated dog, about 6 months ago, he stopped eating. He lost almost 25 lbs, seeing his hips and bones, and having major troubles going potty. We rapidly began a sleu of tests. Between our regular vet, to the specialist, then back to our vet, it has been 6 months of medical bills that have been nonstop. Blood tests, urine/fecal tests, ultrasound, no masses showing, no blockages, cultures, prescriptions... no definitive answers.
"It could be irritable bowel syndrome, or addisons, or a bacterial infection
...or...or..."
We changed his food to a hydrolyzed protein diet along with prescription steroids - which finally stabilized him to the point of gaining back 15 lbs!
We thought we were coming around the corner of whatever this was and getting him back. Moments of his personality and energy peeked through.
We began weaning him off the prescription medications, with the help of the vet. The second the medications were removed, immediate relapse. No eating. Needing to go outside every 3 hours. Dripping pee in the house. Waking up for 4am walks daily...
We've now reached the point where it has become obvious without the medications, his system destabilizes.
Our vet has come to the conclusion, (as rare as it is for a young 5 year old pup) that this could be GI Lymphoma or Chrons disease. The next test we need for Silas to determine the route cause of this issue is an intestinal biopsy, where they will be able to scrape a sample and get it tested.
This is where life has halted us and our fight to get answers. I recently was laid off my job in October and the biopsy is $3,000.
With the 6 months of medical bills, prescriptions, special food for him costing over $300 a month....the time to ask for help has come.
I so badly just want to be able to help Silas get better, but this cost is debilitating. Having to see him everyday struggling, sleeping almost the whole day, no energy, walking slow, not eating...has just been heartbreaking.

Please consider any donation so we can proceed with getting this test soon.
