As a lot of you know, our son Silas was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2. Since birth he has never been able to crawl, nor walk. Silas is 7 now and he will tell you he has had the best 7 years of his life. We have tons of family and friends who help out with making sure he’s not treated differently than the rest. He has an awesome team at his public school also that we are so grateful for, that makes him feel that he is right where he belongs. Our #1 goal for our son is just to feel normal, just to feel like he can do what other kids can do, and we have another chance to do that, and we are asking for your help. We have been introduced to a piece of equipment called Permobil Smartdrive that will hook up to his wheelchair and basically help Silas be able to push himself further in his chair, without wearing him out so much. He is always wanting to push himself in his wheelchair, and be free to travel wherever he wants, but he would quickly get tired and needed help to get around. With this device, he will be able to move more independently and freely. Since it’s time for him to upgrade his bigger power wheelchair, insurance will not cover the cost of both pieces of equipment so we will have to pay for this out of pocket. Please help us meet our goal and help out Silas. Friends and family may reach out to us if you would rather use PayPal, Venmo, cash app etc or in person.
