Help Siham and Mona Rebuild After Tragedy

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved brother, Weissi Almahmoud, who passed away on Friday, June 13.

Many of you may already know parts of Weissi’s story, but we want to share it again for those who may not. Just seven months ago, Weissi arrived in the United States with his wife, Siham, and their 11-year-old daughter, Mona, in search of safety and a better future. After surviving over a decade of war and displacement in Rojava, Syria, they came to the U.S. with hope for a peaceful and stable life.

Tragically, only two months after arriving, Weissi was diagnosed with terminal metastatic cancer—an aggressive and incurable disease. He spent the next four months hospitalized, courageously enduring treatment and holding on for the sake of his wife and daughter. Despite his determination and strength, the cancer progressed rapidly, and Weissi sadly passed away on June 13.

Now, Siham and young Mona are left behind—grieving, alone, and without financial support in a new country.

Due to Weissi’s illness and inability to work, the family fell behind on rent and is now at risk of losing their apartment. They are also facing funeral and burial expenses, along with substantial medical bills from his prolonged hospitalization and care. They urgently need our help.

We are raising funds to support:
  • Unpaid medical expenses
  • Past-due rent and essential living needs
  • Basic support for Siham and Mona as they begin the painful process of rebuilding their lives

Any donation—no matter the amount—will make a real difference. Let’s come together as a community and offer comfort, dignity, and support to a grieving family during their darkest moment. Your generosity will help ease their burden and show them they are not alone.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion and support.
