I used to be a good runner in high school. I got very good places in National-wide competitions, even won one national championship. Then I started studying in a university for a double degree in Economics and Econometrics. Already throughout my first year of the university, I had some back pain but I never thought it's too big of a deal. I kept going back to physiotherapy, doing lots of exercises, tried improving how I sleep and sit, but the pain became stronger and stronger. This April, in my third year of the university, I could not sit for long periods of time anymore because the pain was unbearable. I have forgotten already how it feels to be a runner or to even walk without pain. I tried going to physiotherapy every week, however, there was no improvement. I was put on painkillers but those did not help me either. After returning back home to Latvia, I did enough check-ups to find out I have 2 disc herniations and one of them is pressing against my nerve so badly that my right foot sometimes gets numb. I have tried many different medicines as well as 2 blockades but nothing has worked, maybe even made things worse. My doctor came to the conclusion that I need surgery ASAP. I am only 22 and I want to live like a normal person - without pain.
I already had laparoscopic surgery this year for a different problem with my stomach and the treatments I have received up to now have not been too cheap, my family cannot help me financially anymore so I am asking you to help me if you can. Two surgeries for such a young person in two months is too much. I am begging you.
