This medical fundraiser is for Sierra Redfox-NotAfaid. Sierra is married to Randall and the mother to 4 beautiful children.
Sierra has been battling life threatening liver disease for the past 7 years. At the age of 22 years a basic gallbladder removal surgery went very wrong. During the process the surgeon severely damaged her liver by cutting the main bile duct 2 different times in the wrong area. Sierra underwent a life saving surgery several months after the damage was done and her liver has never fully recovered due to the severity of the injury from the original surgery.
Currently, Sierra is on a transplant list at the Salt Lake City Transplant Center.
On April 13, 2021 her team of doctors would like to try a final procedure to avoid a transplant. This procedure is a portal vein embolism followed by a partial hepatectomy. Basically, the blood flow will be cut off to the damaged right side of her liver. Four to six weeks later Sierra will return to the transplant center to have the right side of her liver removed. The doctors are hopeful this will clear up the current issues and her liver will recover.
As I am writing this, my heart is breaking for the pain and suffering my daughter has been living with for the past 7 years; her life has been far from normal. Every week for the past 3 months she has been hospitalized for a day while the drain in her liver is exchanged. She cannot live without the drain.
As you can imagine, this has been devastating to her family in every way imaginable; jobs have been lost and finances have been hit hard, emotionally we are all over the place, and the worrying and prayers never stop.
Sierra will need to be at the transplant center for 2-3 days for the April 13th procedure and this will be followed by 3 more visits, including a 7-10 day hospital stay when she returns for the hepatectomy.
I am humbly asking for donations in any amount to assist Sierra and her family with medical visits traveling from Montana to the transplant center and to help with recovery times, this will be a very long road. There will be extended periods of time where both Sierra and Randall will be unable to work. This precious family has strong faith in the Lord and we welcome your prayers as well.
