My name is Sierra, and I’m a single mom to three amazing kids ages 2, 6, and 8. Just after Easter, my mom came over to spend the holiday with us. We made cupcakes together, and to clear space for Easter dinner, she put the cupcake tray with the plastic cover into the oven. A few days later, when she went to cook food for my kids, none of us remembered it was still in there. That’s when the fire started.
The fire department and police ruled it an accident, but the sprinklers flooded the apartment and so many of our belongings were destroyed , clothes, furniture, my kids’ things, and basic household items we rely on every day.
Even though the unit is fixable, the apartment management told us we have to leave immediately. I had just paid rent, and because my credit is low from a recent car accident, I can’t get approved for a new place without financial help. I work full‑time 6 days a week, but overnight my kids and I went from having a home to being homeless.
I’m doing everything I can to keep my children safe and stable. I just want to make sure they have somewhere to sleep, somewhere to feel secure, and somewhere we can rebuild our lives.
The funds from this GoFundMe will help us secure a new place to live, cover move‑in costs, replace essentials we lost in the fire, and buy food and basic necessities while we get back on our feet.
I hate asking for help, but I’m at a point where I can’t do this alone. Any support, even sharing this, means more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for caring about my family.
