Hi, my name is Chelsie Young. I am creating this GoFundMe for my 19-year-old niece Sierrs and her boyfriend, Jacobie.

Sierra was 26 weeks pregnant and went to her monthly doctor's appointment. She was told that her cervix was starting to thin out and that she should return on April 2nd for a checkup to make sure they weren't thinning more. If so, she would have to A. Take a pill or B. Have a procedure done to help the cervix from thinning. Well, it was 3 days later, and she went to work and was in so much pain. On a scale from 0-10, she was having pains at 6-7. Her mother and I then told her she needed to leave work and go straight to the hospital. We were very concerned and worried. By the way, her mother Tessie had already experienced this same situation with her son Timothy, so she knew something was not right.

Sierra ended up in Fort Hamilton Hospital in labor, 5 cm dilated. They gave her meds to slow down the labor and proceeded to do their next steps by air-caring her to Kettering Main Campus Dayton Ohio Hospital, which is about a 50-minute drive from where Sierra and Jacobie live!

Sierra had her beautiful baby boy on 3/23/25 at 5:37 am, Jakai Gene Maurice Maffett, 2 lbs 8 oz, 13.15 inches. A miracle baby, so strong and doing so good for being a preemie baby born at just 26 weeks! He is a blessing to our family.

Sierra is not working at the moment. She is a manager at Sonic and has been for over 4 years now. Unfortunately, they do not have any medical leave nor do they have maternity leave, so she has only been able to save up so much before she had the baby! She has a car payment, insurance, house bills, and is driving back and forth now to Dayton, so they will need gas money because, of course, a mother and father want to be around their new baby as much as possible!

Jacobie is now the only provider, and I just want them to not have to stress so much. If you can donate anything to help this couple out, it would be greatly appreciated and definitely a blessing for this family. They deserve so much, and for them being first-time parents, I just don't want them to stress about the little things, especially when they already have enough stress with having a preemie baby. They've created a true miracle, and they know that, but with anyone in this situation, it's heartbreaking to see your baby in this condition!

Jakai is doing great and keeps growing day by day! He is gaining weight and no longer needs ivs through his belly button, and no longer needs the light for his skin he's absolutely beautiful! Parents are doing great and love their bundle of joy everyone is in love!

Unfortunately baby Jakai had passed and gone to heaven. It really saddens me that he only got to spend less than a month with us, his parents have decided to have him cremated so they can finally bring their baby home, something they never got to do!

Sierra and Jacobie just need love and support as of now and if anyone would still like to donate as they take time to grieve and process Jakai not being here anymore. Their first baby and this is what life throws at them one of the hardest death and most painful heartaches anyone would ever have to endorse. Keep praying for them!
