Help Sierra Access Life-Saving Mental Health Treatment
If you had asked me to describe Sierra a year ago it would have sounded very different than today. Sierra was a loving, outgoing child who had so many friends and everyone loved. She was a competitive cheerleader, a gymnast, volleyball player, and an excellent student. She has given up on all of these things and her life.
Sierra, who is only 13 years old, has experienced several difficult situations that most adults would find difficult to handle. In 2018, we lost our home due to a fire. In 2019, a tragic event occurred that led to Sierra’s dad having his leg amputated. In 2020, she lost her older sister due to medical problems, and has recently revealed that she abused by a family acquaintance at the age of 6 years old.
Currently, Sierra is withdrawn, depressed, and suicidal. She frequently says she wants to be with her sister in Heaven. Sierra has completed a 90 day intense program but she continues to have suicidal thoughts. On March 23, 2021, Sierra overdosed on over 90 pills and had to be rushed to the hospital by EMS. She had to be medically stabilized at Texas Children’s Hospital before being moved to a behavioral health hospital. Sierra has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, ADHD, and Bulimia.
The doctors are now telling us the only way we are going to be able to keep her safe and alive is to send her to a special program for teen girls that will last for at least 9-12 months. Our family has already gone into debt for over a $100,000 for treatment for Sierra in the last 6 months. The doctors have stated this is the last option available to help Sierra heal and move forward with her life.
We are now trying to raise enough money to help cover the initial $11,000 to get her into the program and then part of the $7800 a month. We are praying as a family, that you will feel prompted to help us provide this Life Saving Treatment for our precious daughter so we can see her grow up, and maybe be able to help someone else suffering from mental illness.
