Dear Family and Friends, I'm Trish Torres, Sienna Torres's Mother. Sienna is a bright and deeply cherished young woman, soon to be 20 years old. Despite facing the challenges of a severe illness, Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). Sienna's spirit shines through. She is a truly happy and playful kid at heart, know for her ability to bring laughter into a room. Sienna is clearly a source of immense love and joy for her family.

Sienna loves music and loves to watch music videos. She really enjoys to sing and dance. Her iPad is her favorite thing in the world. Sienna also enjoys You Tube Videos about families, babies and Special Needs Children. I don't also know why she follows certain people but she learns from them. Her favorite person besides Mom and Dad is her brother Niko. He is so special to Sienna . Then there is a special addition to our family, Athena. She is a Sebastian Husky. Athena is beautiful and playful.

Alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC ) is a rare neurological disorder marked by temporary, alternation episodes of paralysis

sometimes affecting both sides of the body, along with developmental delays and muscle stiffness. It begins before 18 months of age and is often triggered by excitement, stress or temperature changes. Other triggers include physical exertion, exposure to water and changes in lighting.

While there is no cure, treatments can manage systems and address challenges.

AHC is a neurodevelopment disorder with a genetic basis, although the specific genes involved and the complex genetic mechanisms are still being studied. AHC has about one in a million occurrences.

We are hoping to raise $20,000.00 for Sienna's essential needs.

The goal is for essential Adaptive Equipment for her Mobility and Safety.

That would include a Mobility Ramp to ensure safe entry and exit from our home.

Also, Safety Equipment like gear to prevent injury and secure her environment.

There is an Adaptive Chair to provide proper posture and support for educational instructions.

Another important item is a Communication Device which allows Sienna to speak to others.

Lastly, it is finding more space within our home for the new equipment and devices.

Then there is always therapy that is not covered by medical insurance. Supplements that can add to her better health which are not covered as well.
