Help Siena Britt Shape the Future

Good day Family & Friends,

My Name is Siena Britt and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. As many of you may be aware, I recently graduated from North Hunterdon High School as part of the 2023 graduation class.

As is the case with most high school graduations, this milestone is very exciting, yet coupled with its own share of anxiety. Aside from Covid 19 placing economic strains upon ours and many other households, virtual learning in school for roughly 2 years prohibited us from in person learning. It also erased 2 years’ worth of visiting campuses for my higher learning at college. Through all of this I leaned heavily into what my mother and father always taught me while facing adversity; hard work and dedication will prevail.

Some of you reading this may not be aware that in my junior year of high school my father passed away unexpectedly. This came as a complete shock and although I am so blessed to have had him in my life, I still miss him every day, and those words of wisdom that he so often shared.

It is said that God never gives us more than we can handle, and I can attest to that. Even with the global pandemic, my father passing, and my family and I being blindsided by the loss of our grandmother 's home due to fire I believe I am a stronger and better person for it. With that being said, these occurrences disrupted any traditional paths when transitioning from high school to college.

With this note, I humbly ask for any financial assistance you might be able to provide for my higher education.

You might be aware I am a freshman at Howard University in the BA-JD program. My mother has been holding firm with assisting me to further my education since my father’s passing. I know it has been a struggle emotionally and financially for her to carry all the weight while running her business and the hardships that Covid placed on many businesses. The additional support that my father provided helped tremendously.

My cause is very important, and my education is paramount toward the accomplishment of my goals. I believe one of my greatest responsibilities and roles as a young minority woman is to not only “pick up the baton” of all the great strides made from my previous generations, but as the world continues to change, I wish to continue to fuel that progress with new thinking.

Given the world we live in today with continuous enhancements in technology and communication, our brothers and sisters across the oceans are practically our next-door neighbors today. As we forge ahead, our decisions and progress that used to be confined and defined as domestic, now by default have a strong tendency to become international. I embrace these new global dynamics and aspire to place all our “thumb prints” on that next chapter. I am so blessed to have gained the wisdom from the past and look to couple that with the higher education I seek.
