URGENT help needed for Sian Hall to move ASAP
Donation protected
Sian Hall has lost almost everything in her life, complicated by Covid and political unrest (see complete narative in her own words below). She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog breeder, anthropologist and archeologist. She needs your help to get her family and five pets to a safe place to live in S. Africa. She is completely alone, with no immediate family other than her aged mother and mother-in-law. The majority of her friends have moved out of country. As of Jan 20, the home Sian found previously to rent has been given to someone else (the rental market is extremely tight now.) Her mother-in-law from Frans, her deceased husband, has been able to extend the rental agreement with the current landlords until the end of January. However, her financial assistance from her aged mother-in-law is nearly completely gone. Sian has some leads on other rentals, but again, she is competing with others in a very tight rental market and the landlords are demanding more up-front cash than pre-covid, which she does not have, even with our current GFM donations. Sian's friend in Canada is feverishly working to obtain the correct details to have Sian immigrate there with her pets. Please consider sharing this with your network and if you can provide a donation Sian would be very grateful.
Funds urgently donated will pay for: a few month's rent, moving costs, health insurance for all animals and Sian; additional funds raised will assist with international flights to Canada for her five Rhodesian Ridgebacks and her mother. With kind regards and much appreciation for your generosity.
Below is a synopsis directly from Sian about the situation and the urgency of the matter and her need for your financial help to get her moved to a safe location:
· Around about 2012 Frans Prins became very sick with diabetes.
· Sian Hall took over many responsibilities relating to their Heritage Impact Assessment Company.
· Frans continued to battle with what was interpreted as being diabetes.
· In 2017 the house which Frans had owned for the last 20 odd years was taken from him by highly questionable means by a female developer and her daughter.
· The irregularity was identified by Frans and a case was made in the high court.
· The developer obtained papers of ownership by irregular means and had them passed through the civil court.
· The result was that an expulsion order was granted by the civil court while the matter was being dealt with in the high court.
· From 2017 to 2021 Frans and Sian were subjected to continuous harassment and terrorization by this female developer, her daughter and members of an extremist organization, the Boerelegioen's. And also by another such organization, the Suidlanders.
· Twice Sian was attacked by this woman.
· One of these attacks was extremely violent involving beating and kicking while Sian had been thrown onto the ground, while on crutches with severe knee injuries. Her knee, which was in a brace, was kicked many times in order to injure it further. It appears as if they were trying to kill Sian, but her staff and Frans intervened and the woman and her daughter drove off after hitting Frans with their car.
· This took place in front of the house in question, but only after the woman had set fire to part of the property.
The harassment included:
o padlocking Frans and Sian in their property
o Killing their cat, and attempting to kill a second cat
o Calling the municipality
o Calling the SPCA
o Barring Frans and Sian from entry to their house despite protection orders being granted
o The killing of Sian’s mother pet chicken which slept on her mother’s bed. Her 80-year-old mother was distraught. Frans searched for the chicken for days. Then a note was left on Sian’s mother’s gate, stating in Afrikaans, that her chicken had been run over. This was then followed by a sms text stating that the chicken had made a lovely Sunday roast. The effect of this on Sian’s mother was extremely distressing.
· Some of these extremists are Sian’s mother’s immediate neighbors. They have threatened to kill Sian at least once – this was shouted out to her by the retired judge of a neighboring town, as Sian had stopped her car in the road to shoo her cat into her yard.
· These neighbors have been found wandering around Sian’s mother’s house during daylight hours when Sian’s mother was asleep, and awoken by the sound of voices.
· They have been harassing Sian’s mother. When Sian went to speak to them regarding the harassment they locked Sian in their property at night and three men surrounded Sian and harassed her, while the judge shouted from the verandah that she deserved to die, and his wife threatened to come down and beat Sian again.
· Frans and Sian threw all their belongings under Sian’s mother’s log cabin and were told by higher authorities to go into hiding as their lives were in danger.
· Sian’s mother would not leave.
· Frans and Sian moved ten times in two years, sleeping on the floor, with no furniture, and without their belongings.
· Their business floundered, and their health deteriorated. They had lost almost everything, and their means of earning an income was severely compromised.
· On the South Coast they handed their field vehicles to a mechanic to service. Unbeknownst to them this mechanic was a member of this extremist organization. He stripped their cars down and sold them for spare parts.
· In 2019 Covid hit. Their company was hit even harder. All work was suspended. Frans’ family stepped in to help.
· Then Frans became very ill. He had developed pancreatic cancer. By the time Sian insisted on moving him to Durban for medical help Frans was already stage four. He died on the 11th August 2021.
· While Frans was still alive in Durban, a violent attempted coup took place in KwaZulu-Natal. The area in which Frans and Sian were staying was in the midst of the worst of the violence. Bomb blasts, explosions, gun-shots, over-turned and burning cars, violent looting and large-scale destruction took place all around them.
· Sian has been staying in a property rented by Frans’ family but has been told that she must vacate the premises by the end of December.
· Sian has nowhere to go, and has run out of funds, relying on friends to assist in a small way. Almost all her belongings are destroyed. Her life remains in danger from these extremist white right-wing organizations.
· In addition, Sian was violently attacked by 10 Zulu men in Mid-November 2021. These men surrounded her car and began to smash the windows and body work of the car, attempting to smash Sian’s head, until private security intervened.
· The situation in the area remains extremely tense. Helicopters patrol the area a few times a day, and private security and community policing remains on high alert in anticipation of further violence.
· Sian’s mother is located two hours from her. She is partially disabled and very frightened and traumatized, as is Sian.
· Sian’s is trying to gather her remaining belongings and to move her mother and dogs to a safer area where she can try and fit the pieces of her life back together again.
Please note:
Private security is paid for by the neighbors in the area where Sian was staying.
Also, Sian has no more staff to assist her given her financial situation and the political and ethnic hatred at this time in her area.
The organizer of this fundraiser has directly made donations to Sian via her banking profile and thought it would be safer to utilize a professional organization to assist in the larger project request.
