Hello, my name is Sian Taylor, and for the past decade I have been working towards a career in Film and Television - and I’m thrilled to be able to share that, as of January this year, I have been studying on the MFA Screenwriting course at the National Film and Television School (NFTS)!

This is a dream I’ve worked toward for years. Screenwriting is my passion, and in every step of my education since high school I've been dedicated to making my dream of becoming a working screenwriter come true.

But now I am asking for your help getting across the finish line in raising £6,000 to put towards the remaining cost of my tuition.

Why am I fundraising?

Being one of the most prestigious film schools in the world comes at a cost - It's expensive - and, coming from a low-income background, I am determined to not allow this to deter my ambitions and progress.

Tuition is £15,450 per year, and I am currently at a £6,000 short fall for my first year. Although I have been very fortunate in receiving a scholarship from the school, other external bursaries and grants are few and far between and highly competitive.

Fundraising has been suggested to me by multiple people at the school; both by tutors, and current peers who have seen success through pursuing this avenue themselves.

What does this opportunity mean?

Studying at the National Film and Television School is a once in a lifetime opportunity that comes with a world-class education. Lessons are taught by working professionals, masterclasses are led by leading industry experts, we build a portfolio of high-quality screenplays, and will eventually have the chance to sit with agents and producers post-graduation to propel us into our careers. The school is a working studio with rigorous, high-calibre productions shooting around the clock and is considered a verified "stamp of approval" within the industry.

The simple feat of being accepted into this course is a highlight of my career so far and my proudest achievement - Something I want to take full advantage of, and strive to give it my all.

Where does your help go?

Any funds raised here will be allocated towards my tuition. This will alleviate a considerable amount of financial stress that would allow me to fully immerse myself in my studies and make the most of this experience.
