Hello everyone.

It feels weird to put this out there and any other time, I wouldn’t be asking for something like this, but I need help.

A few days ago, my chihuahua mix, Sia, started to get a little bloated. I wasn’t worried at first because it had happened a few months ago and had resolved all by itself.

This time it wasn’t. She continued to bloat more, to the point where she was having issues walking, and I knew something was wrong and I needed to take her in.

Sunday night, the 30th of March, my boyfriend and I took her to the emergency vet. The closest place closed in 30 minutes, but they said to come anyway once I explained the situation.

Upon just a general exam, the vet explained all the things it could be; all would need surgery and would be costly, which was devastating, as we didn’t have a lot of funds.

After finishing the exam, the vet called us back and told us that Sia had an infection in her uterus and it would need to be removed very soon, like within the next few days; otherwise, she would get extremely sick and would probably pass or need to be euthanized.

The surgery through them would cost anywhere from $3500-$4000, something we couldn’t afford. Luckily, there is a low-cost clinic in our city that did the surgery for so much cheaper. It was a godsend.

We were convinced she wasn’t coming home with us that night.

Since then, she’s had the surgery and is recovering well. It was so stressful and scary though.

Overall, we are out $1032. Normally, as much as that sucks to shell that out, it was worth it to give her a chance. But we are moving at the end of May and all our savings was supposed to go to the move. If it was possible to change the move, I would, but we are in a sucky place and we can’t change it. We have to move at the end of May.

Anything helps. I appreciate any help that can be given, even if it’s just a share.
