Help Shuaib Almosawa Pay for Cancer Treatment

Hey y’all, I’m Jeb Boone and I worked with Shuaib in Yemen when I was a freelance journalist several years ago. Since then, Shuaib and I have remained close friends. He has continued reporting from Yemen for several English-language news outlets over the last decade including the New York Times, the Intercept, the Nation and many others

Earlier this week, Shuaib was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma.

After several months suffering from persistent fever, weight loss and fatigue, Shuaib sought medical treatment in New Delhi after he was unable to get a clear diagnosis from doctors in Yemen. Following a PET scan and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma.

Since Shuaib works as a reporter covering stories from Yemen, he is obviously unable to work very much during the time he’s receiving treatment in New Delhi.

He's going to need some help to get himself and his family through this difficult treatment process. Hopefully with the support of his friends, we can reunite him with his family and start making real progress in his fight against cancer.

Our first step in treatment is getting Shuaib on courses of chemotherapy as soon as possible. Over the next six months, he’ll need a total of 12 chemotherapy courses - one every two weeks. During that time, in addition to paying for the treatment itself, he'll need to cover costs for a place to stay, groceries and family travel. Shuaib is a husband and a father and I'd love for him to be able to get his family to join him in New Delhi.

All the funds will be deposited into my US-based bank account and I'll send them to Shuaib in New Delhi directly via services like Moneygram or Western Union. We've determined that this is the best way for Shuaib to receive the funds quickly and with as few fees as possible.
