Hello everyone,
My name is JP Labuschagne — some of you may know me as “Oneeyemodel.” Today, I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of an inspiring young man from South Africa, named Shongeze, who urgently needs a prosthetic eye.
As someone who has walked this path — who has felt the stares, the self-doubt, and the long journey toward confidence after losing an eye — I know how truly life-changing a prosthetic can be. It’s more than cosmetic. It’s dignity. It’s hope. It’s the chance to move forward without being defined by loss.
Shongeze’s Story
A few years ago, Shongeze’s life was shattered when he was the victim of a brutal attack. He was rushed to the hospital, but despite the doctors’ efforts, his eye could not be saved.
Since then, he has faced more than just physical loss. He was let go from his job after the accident, and finding new work has been incredibly difficult. Too often, employers only see his missing eye instead of his skills, potential, and determination.
For him, a prosthetic eye represents more than appearance. It’s a chance to restore his confidence, remove the stigma, and open doors to employment so that he can provide for himself and build a future.
How You Can Help
We are raising $500, the cost quoted by a trusted ocularist to create his prosthetic eye. I will personally manage the donations and pay the ocularist directly, ensuring full transparency and updates every step of the way. we will also be paying for his transportation and accommodation since he does not live near the Ocularist.
Why This Matters
This is not simply about replacing what was lost. It is about giving a young man the opportunity to rebuild his life, regain his dignity, and be seen for his abilities rather than his injury.
I’ve been in Shongeze’s shoes. I know the difference a prosthetic eye can make. Please, if you’re able, consider donating — even $5 helps. And if you cannot donate, sharing his story is just as valuable. Together, we can help him move past this painful chapter and step into a brighter, more confident future.
If we raise more funds than intended it will go to the foundation and we will help others gain prosthetic eyes as well. Thank You for your Donation changing a life one person at a time.
With gratitude,
JP Labuschagne
