Help Shmoopy Get Urgent Medical Care

Our sweet Shmoopy needs medical care. She needs tests and likely dental treatment.

She stopped eating and drinking several days ago, and we took her to the vet today. Lab work is being done. The vet said, ruling out anything major internally, it’s dental.

I am on SSDI and a very fixed income. My son is my caregiver and gets paid, but we still don’t have much left each month. This is on top of losing Cuddlez on January 3rd.

Will update as we get them from the vet.

3/12 - the vet just called us.  Shmoopy’s lab work came back with no problems.  The next step is to sedate her fully and do X-rays of her abdomen and chest to fully rule out anything there and do a complete teeth cleaning.  If it’s done in one full visit, barring no complications, that visit will be roughly $900.  

In the meantime we are trying a variety of foods for her.  She did eat a bit this morning, but hasn’t eaten since so we are force feeding her a high calorie gel, and giving her water via a syringe like you’d use on a young child.  The vet did say that her refusal or likely inability to eat could most definitely be caused by her teeth needing to be cleaned.  I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive that the cleaning will resolve the issue.
