In early May 2026, Shirley was diagnosed with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. This diagnosis came after weeks of worsening symptoms. The plan is to start chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment as soon as possible. Our family is raising funds to help cover the cost of medical bills (labs, imaging, doctor visits, infusions), travel costs, medical equipment, and daily living expenses during this difficult time.
Shirley is married to her high school sweetheart and love of her life Ken. She is a devoted mother to four boys, and grandmother to nine grandchildren. Shirley is retired and loves camping, spending time with family, gardening, and is always willing to help others.
Shirley has been diagnosed with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer, an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads quickly. Her diagnosis came after ongoing symptoms brough her to the emergency room. Imaging was done which showed concerning spots in her lungs, which a biopsy confirmed was small cell lung cancer. Her treatment plan includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, frequent scans, and ongoing specialist visits. Her oncologist is also working to get her into a clinical trial.
Shirley and Ken and both retired after working throughout their lives, and live on a fixed income. Donations will help Ken and Shirley manage mounting medical expenses, medications and medical equipment, transportation to appointments, household bills, and other expenses. Every donation, share, and message of encouragement helps ease the financial pressure on our family and allows Shirley to focus on fighting this disease.
Thank you,
Meyers Family
