Help Shirley & Ed’s rebuild after devastating fire.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I’m raising funds to help my parents who lost their home, all their belongings and two pets to a devastating fire. Unfortunately they did not have home insurance at this time which makes this loss even more devastating.

On Thursday January 9th, while Shirley and Ed Weatherbee slept , a fire started in their home. Ed, my father woke up to the smoke and fire in the basement of their home. He woke up my mother and grabbed an extinguisher he raced to the basement but the heat and smoke had already gotten to thick. They quickly grabbed what they could , two of their pets and car keys and fled to the closest neighbour house to call for help.

My parents just recently relocated to Perth-Andover, New Brunswick as a retired couple. They used all their savings to purchase their dream retirement home outright. A small bungalow on acre lot on a dead end rural street. With my mother scheduled for a total knee replacement in January of this year, she was unable to work and they couldn’t afford the Home Insurance. The unthinkable has happened and their entire retirement saving and future have now gone up in smoke. The home is completely destroyed and with no insurance they are going to have to start from the very beginning at 65 years old. My mother’s knee replacement is also now in jeopardy, which she had been waiting for, for years.

My father is the hardest working man I know. Anyone who knows my father knows he has always been a working hard toward a better life. He’s a kind and giving man always helping out his friends and family in anyway he could. His entire life he worked as a garbage man, Christmas Day, holidays , and every opportunity to give us a better life than he had and to be able to retire in the east coast and to see his hard work just go up in flames is devastating. We don’t know what to expect these coming days and weeks but to see my parents homeless with all their belongings gone , all I can do it try and help raise some funds to get them back on their feet.

We are so thankful that they made it out with only some smoke inhalation and their lives were spared, and nothing is more important than that. With that said ,any help we can give them in this time is appreciated immensely, we hope to relieve some stress and give them hope for the future.
