Darcy Spencer was my closest friend during our years aboard the USS Ranger (CV-61). In a large group of shipmates, we formed a bond that has lasted decades, recently rekindled through Facebook. For four years, we lived side by side in the same berthing area, working, eating, exploring foreign countries, and sharing the best times of our lives. We laughed, cried, and even fought, but above all, we were a family who always had each other's backs. Darcy was a true leader among us, someone we could always count on, no matter the circumstances.
Now, Darcy is facing one of the toughest challenges of his life. After the economic turmoil of the past year, he was forced to close his business and is currently living out of his truck. He is struggling with immediate food insecurity, urgent medical needs due to diabetes, and mounting legal fees as he fights to secure the military benefits he earned through his service. The situation is critical, and he needs our help to get back on his feet.
Supporting Darcy is more than just a financial donation—it's about honoring the bond we formed as shipmates and the commitment we made to look out for one another. Your support will help him cover basic living expenses, access life-saving medical care, and secure the legal help he needs. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with others who care about our veterans. Together, we can show Darcy that the brotherhood of the USS Ranger endures, and that he is not alone in this fight.
