Meet Shinju, whose journey with our rescue began in December 2022. Shinju, which means "Pearl" in Japanese, is approximately 5 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. She’s a husky-pit mix, and although she has a bit of a past, we’re focused on her bright future.

Initially, Shinju began experiencing seizures, which were thought to be epilepsy. After careful observation, we discovered that her seizures were not traditional epilepsy but were tied to stress and anxiety. The uncertainty of her diagnosis was difficult; however, through dedicated support, we realized the connection between her stress and the seizures.

In recent months, we have worked closely to manage her condition. By creating calm, structured experiences and reducing her exposure to triggers, we’ve seen remarkable progress. Shinju has now been seizure-free and medication-free for four months!

Shinju has another critical step ahead of her: specialized boarding and training with Tailored Canine. This program will focus on obedience training and public work, ensuring that we do not reactivate the old neurological pathways that once led to her seizures.

The specialized training is essential for Shinju, as it will provide her with the structure and stability needed to fully break free from her past while guiding her brain to maintain healthy neurological patterns.
