SHIFT is always there for our community. Now we need to be there for them. The business experienced numerous unforeseen budget issues this winter that amount to over $20,000. You may not have noticed they are hurting because they are always so busy helping. From organizing Adopt-A-Backpack, hosting sober dance parties, facilitating silent book clubs, line dancing, craft clubs, free meeting spaces, art shows, live music, toy drives, food drives or facilitating both collecting and transferring mutual aid to the cities, SHIFT is so much more than a coffee shop! But it IS their delicious coffee business that allows all of these meaningful opportunities for connection and community building.
There were several days this winter when SHIFT had to close for weather resulting in a significant loss of revenue for them each of those days. But worse than that was the bad luck of both their espresso grinders AND their espresso machine breaking...she's pretty but she's not cheap (just those three things alone are more than $11,000 to repair and replace!). As Friends of SHIFT we want to help them recover these losses.
SHIFT is always there for us. Now we need to be there for SHIFT.
This GoFundMe is being organized by Friends of SHIFT, which is all of us (well, not the owners or staff, but everyone else!). Consider donating what you would have spent on a drink and scone on a day they had to be closed this winter. Or maybe donate what it would cost to rent a venue for a special event because SHIFT is always sharing their beautiful space with Eau Claire for free. Any donation that is meaningful to you will mean the world to them.
The funds we raise as a community will help SHIFT to continue being such a vibrant part of our community and recover from these unexpected challenges. Let's help them keep their doors open for everyone who loves their coffee as much as the community they help us create. The Friends of SHIFT invite you to give back to SHIFT the way SHIFT has given to us.
Let's fill their cup because they are always there to fill ours!
