Support Sherry Taylor's Fight Against Cancer and Homelessness.
In early 2023, Sherry received the devastating news that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to the liver. She has fought fiercely through numerous surgeries and treatments since then, and for a while, it seemed that things were looking up. But this week, Sherry learned that the cancer is back and she is not a candidate for further surgery. We don't know everything yet, but we do know that she is faced with the literal fight for her life, that she cannot work and therefore lost her health insurance – now facing this battle with only Medi-Cal.
When we spoke this week, I could hear the devastation and fear in her voice as she told me that she can no longer afford her apartment and the only solution seems to be that she needs to buy a used RV, enabling her to have security in knowing she can rent an inexpensive space and live the remainder of her life in peace. Fear of losing her home and not having anywhere to go is simply overwhelming in the midst of facing treatment again - chemo, radiation, possible immunotherapy while waiting to see if she is accepted into a trial/study. It’s hard for any of us to imagine having cancer – let alone facing homelessness at the same time.
Sherry after the first diagnosis in 2023 - had one surgery and had not started chemo yet.
No donation is too small - please help if you can...
Sherry and I have been friends for 44 years. Whether you knew her back at Verdugo High School, worked together through the years, or became friends later in life – I hope that you will find it in your heart to help. Anything is appreciated and will make a real difference to Sherry during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a huge difference and bring us one step closer to providing Sherry the care she needs to fight this battle – again.
Despite it all...Sherry tries to remain positive. I love the pink hair!
If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing this campaign with others would also be a great help. Your support, prayers, and kindness mean more than words can express during this time.
