Help Sherrie In Her Fight Against Cancer

In January of this year, our lives took an unexpected and challenging turn. My amazing sister, Sherrie, woke up one morning with a broken arm. What we initially thought was a simple accident led to a series of tests that revealed devastating news. An MRI uncovered that the fracture was caused by a metastatic tumor in her bone. Further scans have since identified a mass on her kidney.

The diagnosis: renal cancer.

Since January, Sherrie has shown incredible courage and resilience. As a dedicated cashier, she has been unable to work since her arm broke, adding significant financial stress to an already difficult situation. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor in her arm and repair the bone, which has thankfully restored some mobility. However, she is still awaiting the start of physical therapy and will also require radiation treatment in addition to upcoming chemotherapy. With the potential for side effects from these treatments, the timeline for her return to work remains uncertain.

Anyone who knows Sherrie knows the deep love she has for her family. She especially cherishes her time with her nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and niece, always looking forward to their visits. Sherrie is also the "family historian" of sorts, passionately researching and recording our family tree, connecting us all to our past.

The road ahead involves more tests, treatments (including chemotherapy and radiation), and the emotional and financial burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis. Sherrie has applied for various assistance programs, but we have yet to receive a response. The mounting medical bills, coupled with the loss of her income, are a significant worry for her and our family.
