Help Sherrie Get Back on the Road

Donation protected
My name is Sierra, and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, Sherrie. On 2:30 in the morning on March 23rd, she was on her way home from doing a night of Lyft runs when her car was totaled by a drunk hit-and-run driver. Luckily, she was able to drive it home (after breaking off part of the body that would have otherwise torn into the tire!), but that was it for her vehicle. Her insurance deemed the cost of repair to far exceed the value of the vehicle, and so her car was no more.

She should be happily retired, enjoying each day at her leisure. However, that’s not the reality we live in, and she needs to supplement her income with Lyft rides. That means she absolutely needs a new car. I have been sharing my car with her, but it’s a 2017 model; Lyft drivers cannot drive cars older than 10 years. This means that she has a bit of a buffer, but not much, as come January 2027, my car will officially be too old for her to use to make money.

Thankfully, there is an insurance payout offer for her. Less thankfully, it will only cover the remaining payments on her destroyed car, leaving her with a pittance. She could get a usable car, sure. But again: the ten-year limit. If she wants to get a useful car that will earn her money for as long as possible, she needs to get the newest she can afford.

That’s where we come in. Sherrie is a wonderful Lyft driver with a majority of her ratings by riders being 5-stars! She is compassionate, willing to help out her customers, and overall puts as much effort into everything as she can. Please consider helping out by either donating or spreading the word; she does so much for people both professionally and personally, and she deserves the world in return.

All donated funds will go towards acquiring a Lyft-approved car that will last Sherrie at least a decade. Any funds above and beyond will go towards her healthcare needs as a result of this accident. She hasn’t needed hospitalization, but she has needed multiple tests and scans to make sure nothing serious (like a brain bleed) happened.
