Sherri is a former coworker of mine in her 60s who is facing one of the hardest moments of her life. After being laid off in early October, she’s now at imminent risk of being evicted. Sherri doesn’t have any family or close friends to lean on—my family and I are the only support she has. She also faces mental health challenges and some mental deficiencies, which make it even harder for her to navigate this difficult situation. Right now, Sherri is behind on her rent and car payment, and her living situation is becoming more unstable each day. She’s struggling to keep up, and it’s heartbreaking to see her lose hope. I don't know Sherri very well, I only worked with her for a few months, but she came to me in particular as the “only person who has shown her compassion in years”, and that level of vulnerability touched my heart. I want to do everything I can to help her find some stability and hope again.
