On Easter Sunday, Jamal Ishmal-Wiggins passed away unexpectedly at his mother, Sheron’s, home in Columbia, SC. Sheron and Jamila, Jamal’s younger sister, are now not only grieving the loss of their beloved son and brother, but facing the aftermath of unexpected medical bills and funeral costs.
As a small and tight-knit family, Sheron, Jamal, and Jamila had already endured a lifetime’s worth of heartache: the passing of Jamal and Jamila’s father, James Dorsett Wiggins Jr. aka Tadpole, at a young age; Jamal’s diagnosis of sickle cell anemia, and most recently, Jamal‘s kidney disease diagnosis. Despite having to undergo dialysis, Jamal and his family remained cheerful and hopeful as they explored treatment options, including the possibility of Jamila being a viable donor for her brother.
Jamal’s unexpected passing has not only brought tremendous emotional pain, but also financial stress. We hope you’ll join us in helping ease some of the financial burden as we gather in community to support Sheron and Jamila. Any help you can give will make a difference as they navigate this difficult time and they are extremely grateful for your generosity and kindness.
