Rebuild my home after Hurricane Melissa

Hello everyone,

My name is Shernalee Smith, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. I live in Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, one of the communities devastated by Hurricane Melissa.

When the storm hit, it tore through everything in its path. My roof was ripped off, my house door got wash out and the floodwaters destroyed my home, furniture, clothes, and appliances my fridge, printer, bed, and all my belongings were ruined. The small shop I ran, which was my only source of income and helped me pay for school, was completely destroyed. I lost everything in just one night.

Right now, I’m trying to rebuild piece by piece, but it’s overwhelming. The roads in my area is broken badly and mostly 4x4 vehicles can pass and getting help or materials is extremely difficult.

I’m asking for your support to help me rebuild my home, replace basic necessities, and restart my small shop so I can get back on my feet and continue my education.

No amount is too small every dollar helps bring me one step closer to stability, safety, and hope again.
