Help Shelly Get Well!
Shelly Landmesser Canistracci has spent the last twenty four years taking care of animals. Being a cow vet is a difficult and dirty job but she loves the work and the people and puts her heart into everything she does. Shelly recently developed a whole body blistery rash. In a short amount of time, it developed into a serious auto-immune disorder and sent her to Albany Med for almost a week. She was discharged without a diagnosis, put on a large dose of steroids, and her condition has not improved. She is now immunocompromised so the boys are doing remote schooling. And between Shelly's medical appointments, caring for Shelly and the boys and schooling, Ingemar hasn't been able to work much. The current plan is for Shelly and the boys to return to her home state of Michigan to seek a diagnosis and treatment from an immunodermatology specialist. She will be able to live with family and get help with childcare and homeschooling. This will allow Ingemar to seek work and continue to work on the house they purchased last summer, which is in need of major updates.
Shelly will likely not be able to work for some time. It's unclear if she'll be able to return to large animal work. She needs funds to cover medical expenses and living expenses while she isn't working, and educational expenses for Aidan and Kieran. The sooner she can get a diagnosis and treatment, the better the chance she has of being able to return to work and community. Please help get Shelly and her family back on their feet!
