Hi! I hope everyone is doing well! :) My name is Shelia Scott. I’ve been battling an autoimmune disorder for 7 years now. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Myasthenia Gravis is a weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under voluntary control. The condition is caused by a breakdown in communication between nerves and muscles.
Although diagnosed, I still work as a preschool teacher, tutor, and work jobs as far as taking children to school, daily pickup/drop-off, and/or extracurricular activities like tennis, drama, gymnastics, and baseball. Recently, while working ten to twelve-hour shifts and tutoring on the weekends, I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. I realized I was sick for three months but continued to work because although I worked as a preschool teacher, I didn’t have benefits. If I didn’t work, I wasn’t paid, so I continued to work, not realizing the damage I was doing to my body. I was later diagnosed with lymphedema, which is a result of my infection. Lymphedema is swelling that happens when something affects your lymphatic system. It is affecting both of my legs, making it difficult to walk for extended periods.
Unfortunately, I haven’t officially worked since December 17th, 2024, which has caused me to get behind two months of payments on my car note. So far, I’ve paid $32,625.40 towards my car loan. As of today, I owe $3,053.51 left. My past due amount is $1,394.01. I just would like to cover my past due amount. Usually, I enjoy helping others around me and I’ve realized I try my best to not ask for much, but this season I’m working on being more vulnerable. I have a 2017 Nissan Rogue and also was recently in a car accident. I was rear-ended and I found out the at-fault party was not insured. The deductible is $1,000 and unfortunately, I just can’t afford it right now because I’m no longer living in my apartment but I am now also living in an extended stay, which is more expensive. Once I’m able to return to work, I’ll be able to pay the deductible. Also, pay the rest of my car note. I’ve worked extremely hard to pay my car note off and I would love to keep my vehicle to receive manual lymphatic drainage. I’m so close and just don’t want to throw in the towel. I really want to be able to return to my preschool teaching position after my physical therapy and really miss working with my kiddos! My families and job are also anticipating my return. If you can find it in your hearts to donate, please do! Thank you so much for taking the time to give and listen to my story. I really appreciate any amount!
