Help Shelda Get New Lungs
Donation protected
On November 27, 2020, Our Mom Shelda Candelaria was brought into the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. Shelda is a healthcare worker who contracted the disease while taking care of those who had it. Shortly after her admission to the hospital, Shelda was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she got placed on the highest level of life support available, a treatment called ECMO. Shelda has been in the ICU at University of New Mexico Hospital for 65 days awaiting a lung transplant. At this point, a lung transplant is Her only option for survival, which she hopes to receive soon in Arizona. She is an incredibly strong woman and fights every day to get better. She has faced unbelievably difficult challenges during her stay in the ICU and has overcome odds to get to where she is. She is truly a fighter and deserves every chance to get new, healthy lungs. ECMO, her life support, is a very expensive cost to our mom and family, along with the transplant and costs to get there. Please consider donating to My mom and our family as we Come together To Help her Get Home To where she belongs.
