Two years ago, I adopted Shelby as a companion for my other cat, Chuleta. I was told I was her third owner, and her last family had to leave her behind when they moved out of town. I didn’t know much about her background, but Shelby’s gentle nature and quick adjustment made it clear she was finally home. She’s been one of the sweetest, easiest cats I’ve ever known, and she’s brought so much comfort and joy to our family.

Recently, Shelby developed a root tooth abscess due to dental issues. We’ve been dealing with this since mid-June, but a misdiagnosis delayed her getting the right treatment and put me in debt. I was finally able to get her the right antibiotics, but we’re only halfway through the course. Tonight, her abscess started bleeding heavily, which was alarming. While I was able to stop the bleeding and give her pain medication, I know she needs to see the vet immediately to make sure she’s okay. I’ve run out of payment options and am asking for help because I can’t continue her treatment alone.

The funds raised will go directly to getting Shelby the urgent veterinary care she needs, as well as ongoing dental treatment—most likely including tooth removal. If there’s enough support, I’ll also be able to pay off the credit care loan I took out just to cover her medical expenses. Shelby is still eating and cuddling with me, even though I know she’s in pain. She’s not ready to give up, and I’m not ready to give up on her.
