Our dear friend Shelby Johnson recently suffered the sudden, unexpected loss of her beloved sister Katie. As Shelby and her partner, Sari, grieve, they have also now become primary caregivers to Shelby’s 88 year-old grandmother, Charlene Graham Keller (affectionately known as Nannan).

Due to a bureaucratic oversight, Nannan has not been receiving her late husband’s military pension. As a result, she has unknowingly accrued significant debt in the course of her care. Shelby and Sari have now relocated Nannan from Tennessee to their home in Oklahoma; however, their residence is not suitable for her long-term needs, as Nannan has limited mobility and is legally blind.

As Nannan’s daughter Karen tragically passed in early 2020, Shelby and Sari are doing everything they can to provide for Nannan, but they will not be able to place her in an appropriate care facility until they are able to settle her outstanding debt. Any funds they receive will go directly to paying off Nannan’s remaining medical bills and moving her into her new home.
