After 6 1/2 years of loyal service, my beloved service dog, SSD Larry, has been retired due to illness. The transition has been challenging, as SSD Larry was not only a companion but also a lifeline. SSD Larry's support allowed me to remain active, independent, and engaged with my community, helping me manage my medical conditions and navigate daily life safely.
Now, I have been matched with a successor service dog who will help me more effectively manage my medical conditions. This new dog will provide medical support during crises, bring medications, pick up dropped items, assist with household chores like laundry, and help me avoid being bumped or knocked off balance in public. He will also find specific people, locate chairs, turn off lights, push handicap switches to open doors, bring my arm crutches and water bottle, and help me recover more quickly from syncopal episodes. With these vital tasks, my successor dog will enable me to continue living a full and active life.
Team Training takes place June 1 through 12 at Susquehanna Service Dogs training center in Grantville, PA. Please help support my next chapter of this wondrous service dog life. With the assistance of a professionally trained successor service dog, I look forward to many more adventures, travels, and community interactions that I just would not be able to do otherwise. Expenses add up fast, and hotel rooms are going quickly. Please contribute any amount and share this link with your friends, coworkers, and businesses who may be able to help. Your support will help me continue to be an active member of our community. (No hermit crabs here!)
I wonder if the new dog will like kayaking... and camping... maybe a little hiking...on good days! So many opportunities! God is great!
