Hello, my name is Sheila. I’ve always tried to manage on my own, but right now I’m facing a situation I can’t handle alone. I was recently switched to Medicare through Social Security, not by choice, and now I have to pay a large premium every month along with co-pays. After covering my daily living expenses like rent and bills, I simply can’t afford the medications I need to manage my cancer and heart failure.
My health has changed my life in ways I never expected. I get tired and out of breath doing even the smallest tasks. My heart isn’t pumping blood properly, and I have a stent and take three different medications for it. I can’t move around as I’d like, not even for walks, which I used to love. Right now, I have four essential prescriptions waiting for me at Walgreens, but I can’t pick them up because of the cost. These medications are critical for me to keep going and to have the best chance at living as long as possible.
I know times are tough for everyone, and I truly appreciate any help you can give—even a dollar makes a difference. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can offer. Your kindness means more than words can say.
