I am raising funds to support the Sheffield Steelers Wheelchair Basketball Club, and every donation will make a real difference.
After an incredible performance finishing 2nd at the IWBF EuroCup group stages in Switzerland, the team has earned a place at the EuroCup 3 Finals in Istanbul. This is a huge achievement and an exciting opportunity to compete against some of Europe’s top teams.
However, the cost of competing internationally is significant. Without the necessary funding, the club has had to consider withdrawing. Unfortunately, this could lead to fines and sanctions that may seriously impact the club’s future.
That’s why we’re asking for your support — to help us get to Istanbul and protect the future of this incredible club.
Founded in 1987 by former patients of the Spinal Injuries Unit in Sheffield, the Steelers are more than just a sports team. They are an inclusive community, supporting players of all abilities — from those just starting out to athletes competing on the world stage.
For many members, wheelchair basketball plays a vital role in recovery and rehabilitation, helping rebuild confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging after life-changing injuries.
The club has a proud history of success, with players representing Great Britain and achieving international honours at both junior and senior levels.
As a registered charity, the Steelers rely on donations and membership fees. While costs have already risen this year, the club is committed to keeping the sport accessible and not creating further financial barriers for people with disabilities.
Any support you can give — no matter how big or small — will help the team compete in Istanbul and ensure the club can continue changing lives for years to come.
Thank you for your support!
