Sheba’s mom Claudette, came from Jamaica to Canada to help out with childcare last year and to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren who she hasn’t seen in a while. She wasn’t able to return home in August because of the high number of COVID cases in her country.
When she first started having migraines and was taken to the doctor, she was given migraine medication and diagnosed with hypertension. She still wasn’t feeling any better, so she was then taken to a second doctor, where she was diagnosed with diabetes. Two weeks later she had a stroke.
The stroke affected the entire left side of her body. She is unable to walk, she needs assistance getting dressed, getting in and out of bed, going to the bathroom and taking a bath. Her eyesight was also affected, among other things. Claudette wants to return home, but this is not possible right now because of her vulnerable state. She is now in a care home to continue receiving the care that she needs, which is another expense to add to the already staggering total.
As she is not a Canadian citizen, and has no health insurance, large bills have accumulated from a three week hospital stay, lab tests, special procedures, CT scans, MRI, physiotherapy and ambulance costs.
Any contribution that you are able to provide to help with these expenses would be greatly appreciated, as Sheba is struggling to keep up with these bills and trying her best to stay afloat with everything that is happening.
