Help support the Gutierrez family through hardship
Donation protected
I'm Kristi, and I am fundraising for my spouse Shayne as they have recently been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Shayne is an incredible person and I have been so lucky to be in their life, and even luckier that we have recently gotten married in April of this year.
Due to health concerns, we had gone to an appointment a week ago and Shayne was encouraged to get an endometrial biopsy prior to any interventions, just as a routine precaution. Yesterday, we received the phone call with the life-changing news. The biopsy showed cancerous cells. Shayne's provider had already been discussing plans with other physicians prior to this call and had made the referral to the oncologist. Minutes after that call ended, we were on the phone with the oncologist. Pending that consult, the plan is for a hysterectomy and possible ovary removal. We will not know staging until surgery.

Your support will help to cover medical and treatment expenses as well as living expenses as Shayne will be off of work for 6(+) weeks for surgical recovery.
If you are unable to donate, we would appreciate you sharing our story. We have an amazing life together, and our fur-baby Hercules needs us both around.

I also have a Venmo account that donations would be accepted, if you would prefer to send one that avenue.

UPDATE August 21
Oncology Appointment:
We had a long discussion with the oncologist this afternoon. A robotic-assisted hysterectomy with fallopian tube removal is scheduled for early October (the next open date the surgeon had available). During that surgery, a dye will be injected to assess if there is lymph node involvement. Prior to surgery Shayne will be getting more testing done, including a CT scan and a chest X-ray and seeing a surgical optimization team. The likelihood of needing further treatment after surgery such as chemo/radiation is minimal.
We will not have a full grasp of answers/staging until the surgery is complete and pathology does their job. Shayne will be on multiple restrictions post-surgery, even though minimally invasive, that will not allow them to work for a month or more. On top of normal household bills being difficult to manage during that period, the medical bills will also be taxing.
We went to an arcade today after the appointment and were surrounded by colorful lights and loud sounds to drown out reality, and it was great.
