I’m reaching out on behalf of some of the closest people in my life,Sam, whose son Shayne is currently in the hospital fighting for his life. I’ve known Shayne since he was just a little kid, and this situation is deeply personal to me. Shayne has been on a breathing machine, and while this has been an incredibly difficult time, there are signs of hope. He’s started opening his eyes, clenching his fists, and recently was able to breathe on his own for several hours. These moments mean everything right now. They are small victories in a battle that is far from over.

His family have not left his side. They’ve been at the hospital day and night, pouring every ounce of their energy into being there for their son. Because of this, sam is unable to work, and the financial weight of everyday life is quickly building on top of an already overwhelming situation.
