My student Shayne just graduated from high school in May. He successfully completed a Certified Nurse Assistant program in my class. He will one day carry out his dream of becoming a Traveling Registered Nurse. Shayne continues to be involved with Wrestling and Judo. He is caring, kind, incredibly strong and his energetic positivity is contagious.
Unfortunately, Shayne and his mom Natasha were driving home when they were hit head-on by another driver. Both were immediately flown to Queens Medical Center on Oahu. It's miraculous they are alive. Both of Shayne's femurs broke, he needed a vein bypass surgery, had rods and screws put into his legs, had internal abdominal bleeding, had injuries to his spleen and intestines, and had multiple days of blood transfusions. Natasha sustained many broken bones all over her body including her face, shoulder, hip, toe, nerve damage in her eye, and brain bleeding. Their road to recovery will be extremely long.
Above and beyond the medical bills, Shayne and Natasha won't be able to work for an unknown amount of time. His sisters and family will need to commute to and from Big Island and Oahu just to visit their brother and mom. They will need Physical, Occupational, and Mental therapy for months to come. From flights to everyday living expenditures, their family's bills will continue to be expensive.
Please help Shayne and his mom Natasha through this tough recovery process.
Shayne and his family gave me permission to start this GoFundMe.
