Help Shayna receive Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT)
Donation protected
Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to read about my fundraiser.
For those who don't know me, my name is Shayna. I am currently battling multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a complex autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibers, leading to a range of debilitating symptoms. MS has significantly impacted my quality of life.
Despite the challenges, I remain determined to regain control over my health and well-being. Living with MS has been an uphill battle, affecting every aspect of my life. The symptoms, from severe fatigue to mobility issues, vision loss, & vertigo have made even the simplest of tasks a struggle. But I refuse to let this condition define me or limit my potential.
That's why I am pursuing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), a groundbreaking treatment that offers hope for halting the progression of MS and improving my chances of leading a more fulfilling life.
HSCT is an incredible treatment that involves a rigorous four-week process. During this time, intensive chemotherapy is used to reset my immune system. The treatment then utilizes my own stem cells to rebuild a healthier immune system that hopefully won't attack itself, as seen in MS. But that's not all; chemotherapy could impair my reproductive organs. To safeguard my future family plans, I must also cover the expenses of freezing my eggs.
It's a tough road, but the success rate of HSCT is encouraging. Recovery time after HSCT is anywhere from 6-12 months.
However, the path to HSCT comes with its own set of challenges. I don't have access to health insurance, and even if I did, the treatment is not covered. The financial burden is overwhelming, and I'm humbly asking for your support to help me raise the funds needed for this life-changing procedure. Your contribution will not only provide me with the chance to receive HSCT but will also enable me to pursue a brighter and healthier future.
Your support means the world to me, whether it's a donation or simply sharing my story. Every bit of help brings me one step closer to regaining my life from the clutches of MS. Together, we can make a difference and create a lasting impact on my journey to overcome this condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and considering a contribution. Your kindness and generosity will be forever appreciated.
My treatment date is scheduled for August 26,2024 and has to be paid in full 2 months prior to treatment.
Breakdown of costs:
HSCT Treatment $57,500
Care giver $2,750
MRI/Lumbar puncture before Mexico $4000 Four MRIs done in Mexico (if there is any issue with my neurologist ordering me new ones prior to trip) $650
Six month supply of HSCT meds if there is any issues with doc in states ordering them $700+ Egg freezing - $9250
Annual storage - $500
Fertility Medication -$3000
Anything additional is to cover any unforeseen medical costs and my recovery.
