Hi! I'm Shayna from Atlanta. I'm a long-time community activist who sometimes works in politics. I'm also autistic and disabled and need help right now—first, the tl;dr. My unemployment is frozen, my December rent hasn't been paid, and I'm facing possible eviction; the power bill is due, and today, my bank account was garnished, leaving me over $600 overdrawn.
I had an excellent non-profit job, which I lost in August. I got approved for unemployment for 14 weeks and then got a temp job, helping get out the vote for Kamala Harris in Georgia from October to November.
While I worked that job, I was losing those earnings when claiming unemployment weekly. Since I was earning more than I was to get from the DoL, I was not expecting payments, so I didn't realize there was an issue. Then my job ended, and I had to refile my claim so they could be sure my election job didn't fire me. So I did, and they verified that last week, but they still need to pay me, and I am still trying to figure out why. I can't get a human at the DOL on the phone. I have contacted my state senator for help but haven't heard anything yet. I am now owed 3 plus weeks of unemployment, totaling over $1100.
Today, 12/12, my checking and savings accounts were debited $549 without my consent. After several calls to the bank and being lied to when I asked for the Fraud department, I finally got someone to tell me my account had been garnished $549 by a creditor. I was never notified that this was happening, and PNC could not explain why the debit was applied twice. So that's where you come in. I would appreciate anything you could donate. I also have been uninsured since I lost my job and spend $150+ a month on my meds. Also, I would love any job leads. It's rough out there. I do B2B and B2C marketing for businesses and non-profits, as well as digital marketing for political campaigns.
