Over three weeks ago (7 days before Christmas) my son and I experienced something we never could have expected. During the atmospheric river event in Washington State, our neighborhood was hit with winds up to 100 miles per hour causing multiple trees to fall over the powerlines and ultimately, onto our house. A tree crashed through the roof of our home, leaving us with significant damage and uncertainty. To make matters even more challenging, the same tree that took out our roof also totaled my car, which we relied on for daily life. While we’re working with insurance, there’s a chance they may not cover the car, and I’m facing a deductible for the home repairs that’s difficult to manage on my own.
The funds raised here will help us cover the insurance deductible, secure a replacement vehicle so we can get back and forth to work and school as well as take care of any repairs that insurance might not cover. Every bit of support will help us rebuild and regain some stability for my son and myself during this overwhelming time.
As a single mom, this is devastating for my Son and I. Our home was our safe place and our comfort. Sadly, we were also a one vehicle household. Our home and vehicle, taken all in the span of minutes in the middle of the night, while we huddle terrified, knowing the trees were coming down.
We understand that not everyone can donate, but a share can be worth just as much. We appreciate the love, support, and kind wishes we've received so far and want to thank you for any help we might receive in the near future. Asking for help from others—family, friends, and even strangers—is very difficult for us, and we are truly grateful for your help, shares, and prayers.
