Hi, my name is Shayla Rojas and I still can’t believe I’m writing this. I’ve been accepted to study abroad at Korea University, one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. As an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, raised in the Bronx, this opportunity feels surreal. Growing up, studying abroad in a country like South Korea felt like something that happened to other people, not someone like me.

But here I am, ready to take on this incredible challenge and grow both academically and personally. This trip will allow me to immerse myself in a completely new culture, expand my global perspective, and gain experiences I never thought would be within reach.

However, studying abroad comes with significant costs: flights, housing, tuition, meals, and travel essentials add up quickly. I’m working hard to save and applying for scholarships, but I still need some extra support to make this dream a reality.
