This is Shayla’s sister writing on her behalf.

We’re reaching out to you with love and hope in our hearts to ask for your support during a difficult time.

Shayla’s health challenges began in March, when she started experiencing immense pain in her lymphedema leg, that quickly worsened. Since April, she has faced a hospital stay every month, ultimately leading to a major surgery. Shayla is currently facing a series of health challenges that have led to mounting medical expenses, including an extended hospital stay, ongoing home health care, physical therapy, countless doctor appointments, and the medical supplies she needs to manage her recovery.

While she does have PEIA insurance, it unfortunately does not cover many of the essential services and supplies she requires. This leaves Shayla and her husband responsible for a significant portion of her care out of pocket.

If you know Shayla, you know how strong and independent she is. She always tries to do as much as she can on her own, despite the obstacles in her way. She loves what she does, and she has a passion for helping others — something that continues to shine through even on her hardest days.
