Hi, I’m Shaykai, I’m a 23 year old actress from South London, and I’ve just been offered a place at my dream drama school: Mountview, to study on the BA Acting course starting this September.

This offer means everything to me. Acting has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was always that kid with a big imagination, always chatting, always performing. My mum and Grandma saw that spark early on and did everything they could to help me follow it; enrolling me in weekend classes, cheering me on at every step, and encouraging me to take it seriously.

Thanks to their support, I got into The BRIT School, where I trained for three years and truly began to shape myself as an actor. Since graduating, I’ve kept going - auditioning, taking classes, working full time, doing whatever I could to stay connected to this path. But without formal training, I’ve always felt like I was just outside the door, watching others walk through it.

Mountview is that door for me. I finally feel like I’m where I’m meant to be - but now I need help to make it happen.

Why I'm Asking for Support

Even with a student loan, I’m still short by several thousand pounds when it comes to covering my tuition fees. On top of that, there are required course materials and resources that I’ll need throughout the year, and with no family financial support, I simply can’t fund this alone.

I’m applying for scholarships and other support, but I’m unlikely to receive full coverage; that’s why I’m turning to my community for help.
