Hi Everyone,

This is Shay and she has been my guide dog for the last 8.5 years. She is 10.5, still working full time and is still full of life. Last Friday Shay began feeling sick. I took her to the vet immediately and was sent home with medication. Shay began declining quickly through the weekend. I took her to the emergency vet on Sunday and after many tests she was sent home with me again. On Monday afternoon Shay was admitted to the ICU for kidney and liver issues. She has remained in the ICU since Monday and has been positively responding to treatment. We are still unsure what has been going on for her and are waiting for a couple more test results. This sweet girl has worked hard for me the last 8 years. She has given me independence and confidence and most importantly has kept me safe. It is now my turn to work hard for her and keep her safe. Shay has been the light of my life and has created bonds with so many others. I don’t want her cost of treatment to keep her from continuing to make those bonds and continuing to do a job that she loves. Any amount donated will go directly to her medical bills. Any funds that aren’t used for her medical bills will be donated to Guiding Eyes, the organization that trained and gave me the greatest gift in Shay. Myself, my family and most importantly Shay appreciate support and help during this time. I will keep everyone updated on Shay’s progress as we get her through this difficult time.
