Marlee come through her surgery with no issues.

She looks amazing and is doing wonderfully.

The surgery cost was much less than anticipated too. Instead of $7500 it was only $5600

Hello, this is Shawnna Humphrey's mom, Cindy Fontana, and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this.

The reason for this GoFundMe is for my daughter and her family's vet expenses, as their sweet little 11yo Boston Terrier, Marlee, has had to undergo major surgery to remove a portion of her lower jaw. So I am writing this, and trying to raise funds to help them, as I know they would never ask for any financial help on their own.

Marlee's story:

She has had peripheral giant cell granuloma 3 times since February 2023. After the last surgery to debulk the tumor, they told them it is a rare benign mass- that it can be aggressive and return, it is very hard to get rid of, and there was nothing else they could do at their clinic to help going forward.....They told them to just keep her comfortable... If they wanted to get rid of it permanently, they would have to seek out a specialist to see what options were out there.

Shawnna then scheduled an appointment at another vet, to get a second opinion, and was told basically the same thing. "Marlee will likely need mandibular resection to fully rid her of it, which is extreme, and that would have to be at a referral hospital."

Shawnna started making phone calls and asking for advice from Facebook groups and friends. She found out about a particular animal hospital in PA. Blue Pearl. Supposed to be the BEST.

So last Friday, she and her husband met up with one of the surgical specialists in Pittsburgh. Their team recommended moving quickly because infection had moved in.

They told them the surgery would be between $6,500-$7,500 (that is if there are no obstacles, and if it hasn't turned into something malignant).

They decided to go forward with it, trying to save Marlee's life.

Today, Monday 8/5/24, Marlee is at the hospital and will be going into surgery sometime by day's end.

This whole situation has been very unnerving and upsetting to the whole household, and extended family.

This little dog is Shawnna, and my grandson Tyler's, whole world.

I am asking for any donation, big or small. Let's all chip in and try to help take some of the financial strain from them. If you are unable to donate, sharing this with others and posting to your social media would be great.

Any and all funds will go directly to Shawnna for the animal hospital bills.
